A man linked to a series of burglaries in Columbia is behind bars. Matthew Fabral Dejesus, 18, of Columbia, was found hiding in an apartment Tuesday evening at the Wagon Werks Apartments, 920 Plane Street. He was arrested following a brief struggle with police. During the arrest, police found several guns connected to the burglaries. A resident of the Water Werks told police he recently bought a gun from Dejesus. Police also found credit cards and other documentation linking Dejesus to the robberies.
This investigation is ongoing, and Columbia Police want to remind residents to continue to adhere to proper home security practices which include keeping all doors and windows locked. I feel a bit safer. I am glad no one was hurt or killed. Sure hope he learnes a leason. crime doesn't get you ahead in life. It gets you behind bars. He's young and I hope he turns his life a round.
