A 9-year old boy in Perry County attempted to burn his home down on Thursday evening. The boy placed a stuffed animal on the coal stove in the home, trying to catch the house on fire.

The boy was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Pennsylvania State Police are treating this as arson and have given the case to Perry County Children and Youth for investigation.

I would like to know what drugs his doctors had him on, because this sounds like something that someone suffering from amphetamine psychosis would do. A lot of prescriptions are written for drugs like Ritalin and Adderal for children his age.

I have a child on adhd meds, and to the contrary of the comment I read, let me say this; the meds are not the cause. Where were this kids parents? And furthermore, what kind of parenting is going on in this home? I would maybe question if the child is being abused, or if there is a lack of structure and discipline.

My child is on adhd meds and she has never tried anything like that or even thought about it.. the article says nothing about the boy being on meds. your just assuming.. its called lack of parenting.. where were the parents? why were they not watching him?

I think there is too little information to draw a conclusion on the child or the parents. I just pray that the hospital does a COMPLETE evaluation. Trust me as a parent of a son with a misdiagnosed brain tumor for years …before they classify this child OR the parents they should fully evaluate. And look at any and all physical possibilities first!
