Paula Sweitzer and her husband were working on their bathroom when she saw flames coming from a neighboring house.  Sweitzer grabbed her granddaughter and ran outside their home in the 500 block of Princess Street in York, followed by her husband and nephew.  75 fire crews from York and surrounding areas responded to the scene and found heavy flames coming from two duplexes. Four homes in all were affected.  Sweitzer told FOX43 almost everything in her home was destroyed by either fire or water, expect for Christmas presents.  She gives all her thanks to firefighters who made sure to retrieve them all.

Fighting back tears, Sweitzer told FOX43, “I saw them taking the gift out. That make me cry and it was sad but I was happy for, I had my granddaughter gift and my grandson and my daughters. I try to buy a little bit by little bit.”

The family has insurance and was placed in a hotel for two nights while their insurance company searches for a home for them to stay in.  The fire’s cause has been ruled undetermined.  The Fire Marshal however, is still investigating a few matters that were not released.  York’s acting Fire Chief did confirm that the fire does not look suspicious.
