Columbia Borough Police say an Ephrata man was killed by a freight train Tuesday evening. Just before 5 pm, Borough police discovered 28-year-old David Nolt laying on the tracks behind Columbia #1 Fire Company between Union and Locust Streets. Nolt had been struck by a northbound Norfolk Southern train that was coming from Lancaster and headed to Harrisburg.
Nolt died while on the way to the hospital. An autopsy Wednesday morning revealed his cause of death was from multiple traumatic injuries as a result of being hit by the train.
