A pretty powerful low is moving into the lower Ohio/Tennessee Valley this morning and will continue to move to the northeast.  A secondary low will form later this afternoon along the North Carolina/Virginia area and shift northeastward across the Chesapeake Bay to New Jersey by tomorrow morning.

The leading edge of the precipitation shield associated with the first low and the evolving winter storm has moved into portions of PA this morning. It will continue to spread snow with possible freezing rain mixed in at times.  Snow will be the dominant precip type but will mix with freezing rain, sleet as warmer air tries to work in from the south, especially this afternoon.  This creates a concern for icing later.  Also predicting final snow accumulations will be problematic because of the potential for freezing rain to mix in. Right now it looks like several inches of snow may fall in the area especially north and west of Harrisburg.

Lancaster and York are not included in the Winter Weather Advisory in effect for the area, but may be added later today.

Once we get into the evening, it is possible for precip to become all rain as we get into the warm sector of the storm.  Heavy precip begins to end from west to east in the early morning hours of Thursday.

Clouds will linger early but sunshine will pop out by afternoon tomorrow.  Winds will be quite gusty as the storm pulls away.  Quiet for Friday, then we’ll be watching the next system as it arrives over the weekend with the chance for snow.

Conditions to be on the roads will go down hill so please take it easy and allow for extra time in your travels today.
