A Cumberland County man and  woman got an unwelcome surprise when a deer jumped onto the top of their SUV on Thursday afternoon. It happened around 3:18 p.m. along the 1000 block of Gettysburg Pike in Upper Allen Township.

Eric Garrison, 62, of Mechanicsburg,  was behind the wheel of a 2007 Chevrolet Trail Blazer when a deer took a running leap onto the windshield, police said.

The weight of the deer caused part of the windshield to shatter and collapse onto the female passenger.

She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
