The Lancaster County Commissioners held a special meeting this morning to discuss the 2013 budget which they ultimately passed.  On a 2 to 1 vote, the County Commissioners approved a $252.6 million dollar budget which will raise taxes by 9.3%.
County Commissioner Scott Martin voted no on the budget, saying this budget will ‘harm a lot of people’ and he says he feels this is a ‘horrible time to pass this’ and it will ‘impact everyone’s quality of life’.
Commissioner Martin did offer a different budget that would have included departmental cuts of 5% to 10% without raising taxes.
The 2013 budget is actually less than last year’s $253 million dollar budget.
