
The Centers for Disease Control lists 41 states, including Pennsylvania, as having widespread flu like illnesses. It reports an aggressive flu strain. Eighteen children have died nationwide during this 2012-2013 flu season so far. The CDC recommends people getting the flu shot to help protect against influenza.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reports flu cases are widespread in the state, with every county reporting illnesses. More than 200 people are hospitalized in Pennsylvania due to influenza. Four people have died in the state so far this season related to the flu. The peak of flu season is mid-January into February.
