A Family Dollar clerk was injured on Saturday morning when a knife-wielding man entered the store and violently attacked the woman. It happened just after 8 a.m. when clerk opened the store located along the 400 block of South Cameron Street in Harrisburg.

The victim, a 44-year-old woman, told police she had just opened when a man walked in and attacked her from behind.

The suspect held a knife to her throat and demanded money from the safe, police said. The attacker also wanted her cell phone and purse.

Authorities say the suspect  bound the victim’s hands with some sort of cord in an effort to restrain her. At one point the clerk tried to fight the robber off, but was knocked unconscious when he punched her numerous times, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, 35-40 years old with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing work boots and a puffy winter coat.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 717-255-3184.
