Police investigate rape at nursing home in Lancaster County

Police arrest a man accused of sexually assaulting an elderly woman at a nursing home in Lancaster County overnight on Sunday. Glenn A. Hershey, 65, is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and sexual assault.

Hershey is accused of rapingĀ  an 86-year-old woman who was a patient at the Maple Farm Nursing Center located along the 600 block of Oak Street in Akron. The victim suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, according to court documents.

Hershey, a registered sex offender under Megan’s Law, was also a patient at the nursing home.

He was taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.
