Seatbelts saved the lives of two children of a York County woman who died in a crash in Cumberland County Wednesday afternoon. Pennsylvania State Police say 45-year-old Amy Lefchak, of Dillsburg lost control of her vehicle on a curve on West Lisburn Road near Fairway Drive in Monroe Township. It happened at around 4:30 pm. Lefchaks’ vehicle hit a dirt embankment. The impact caused her to be ejected from the vehicle. She was not wearing her seatbelt. She pronounced dead at the scene.
State Police say that Lefchaks’ two children, passengers in the vehicle, suffered only minor injuries. The children, a 11-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl were secured in their seatbelts. They were both taken to Harrisburg Hospital as a precaution. State Police continue their investigation.

I see this too often! Parents who thoughtful enough to belt up the kids but won't wear the belt themselves. How am I supposed to feel sorry for them when killed. I REALLY feel sorry for the kids. They are too young to lose their mother. PEOPLE! THINK!

No child should SEE their parent killed, especially so tragically. Unfortunately it seems to be "do as I say, not as I do" world. Children learn more by observation than telling/preaching/yelling. May God be with her children and family.

Given her schedule and the timing of the accident, she was probably racing the kids from place to place and undid her seatbelt for a minute to reach for something. Most of us have done it. No reason to be judgemental. Does make you think.

Amy was an amazing woman, a wonderful friend, and a great mom. She was my friend for many years. How are you supposed to feel bad that a mother of 2 young children died? People's callousness never ceases to amaze me. Shame on you.
