High pressure tonight is providing clear skies and much lighter winds.  This will allow a night for good radiational cooling.  Temperatures are expected to plummet into the single digits for much of the area but they will rebound fairly quickly as high cirrus clouds should be arriving overnight putting a halt to the dropping temperatures.

Once the clouds arrive, temps will hold steady if not rise a bit in the very early morning hours.

A storm system along with a series of weak disturbances will slide in tomorrow afternoon and evening.  Even though there won’t be a lot of moisture with the systems, the air is dry and very cold which should boost liquid to snow ratios.  We could squeeze out generally 1″ to 3″ of snow with some areas south and west of Harrisburg receiving 2″ to 4″.  Despite amounts, it will be enough to snarl the evening commute as everyone jumps on the roadways to head home to get a start on the weekend.

The first flakes will fall anytime after 1pm from the west and spread east.  Highs should reach around 20°.  Snow will continue light to moderate before tapering around 10pm.

Winds will become blustery again for Saturday and the clouds will hang on mixing with a little sunshine but keeping our temperatures in the 20s once again.

By Sunday, high pressure builds in overhead, bringing sunshine and a calmer day.

Next system arrives Monday and could bring an icy mix before temps warm up.  Mild Tuesday and Wdnesday, in the 40s to near 50 with the threat for showers expected both days, the best chance being Wednesday.

Take it easy on the roads tomorrow afternoon.

No advisories are posted at this time but we will keep you up to date with the latest changes.
