Potato Fired Through York County Home; Three Young Men Charged

It was just after midnight Wednesday morning when a York County homeowner reported that someone fired a potato into his home.  The potato was shot at the front of the home, in the 2900 block of Village Square Drive in Dover Township, penetrating the exterior and interior walls.  The interior room penetrated by the potato was occupied by two adults and their two month old child.  No was injured.

While Northern York County Police were at the home, they received a call reporting a similar incident in the 3000 block of Hadley Drive.  Someone had fired a potato at the rear of an unoccupied minivan.  The vehicle had only minor damage. As the investigation continued, police learned that two suspects had bought two five-pound bags of potatoes at a local grocery store sometime between 10:30 and 11 o’clock Tuesday night.  The two suspects were identified, one by an investigating officer and another by a witness. Surveillance video also revealed that they had departed in a blue Dodge Durango SUV.

A total of three suspects were located and arrested.  19-year-old Cody Cosgrove, of Dover Township, 18-year-old Dakota Falkenroth, of West Manchester Township, and 18-year-old John Whitcomb, of Conewago Township.  All three men were taken to Central Booking and charged with the following; Aggravated Assault, Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure, Criminal Conspiracy, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Simple Assault, and Criminal Mischief.
