Man surrenders to police after threatening to kill woman

A man who held a woman at gunpoint and threatened to kill her is facing charges in Cumberland County. Charles John Snavely, 46, of Enola, is expected to be charged with simple assault and terroristic threats.

Officers were called out the the 2100 block of Valley Street around 2:20 a.m. for a report of a domestic incident involving a gun on Saturday morning. When they got there, Snavely ran out the back door and into a wooded area.  Additional police and Special Response Teams were called in and negotiated with Snavely for over 5 hours.

He peacefully surrendered around 8:05 a.m. and was taken to Holy Spirit hospital for medical treatment after being out in the cold overnight.

Once Snavely is medically cleared he will be arraigned and charged.

Police say he had prior convictions and was not allowed to have guns.
