Wayne Allen Taylor, 35, of York, was arrested and charged earlier today for setting the Rodeway Inn on fire. Taylor admitted to police that he had no permanent address and started thinking about where he was going to live, because he had no place to go.

Taylor decided to set his room at the motel on fire so he could go to jail. He told police he waited until closer to the 11 a.m. check-out time to set the fire because he thought fewer people would be in the motel.

Taylor used a lighter and set both bed corners on fire and left the room. He fled the scene of the fire and went to a friend’s home, where they told him to turn himself in to police. He has been charged with one count of Arson and 22 counts of Reckless Endangerment. Bail for Taylor was set at $250,000 and he is currently in York County Prison.
