A young woman in Florida gives a judge the middle finger after not liking what he had to say to her. Penelope Soto got nearly a month behind bars for contempt of court after flipping off the Miami-Dade Circuit Judge. Police arrested the girl for illegal possession of xanax. The teen got mad after the judge raised her bond from five to ten thousand dollars.

Maybe she should be reminded that there was a time when the punishment was to cut that finger off! I hope she learns from this, but I doubt it! Past behavior is a good foreteller of future behavior.

Since when is the penalty for flipping someone off a month in jail? Are we living in Nazi Germany? Was that penalty given as a personal vendetta by the judge? I'm not aware of a law that says you can't flip off a judge.
Not saying this girl doesn't deserve whatever she got for her other crimes.

The idiot comment was certainly out of line. You get 1 month in jail! I am aware of the contempt of court rules. I thought it was just for disrupting the court. Apparently, it is illegal to disrespect a judge? That law needs to be changed. Free speech in this country.

I blame her parents…people need to start parenting again and start whooping some ass! My son wouldn't think of acting so disrespectful, especially in court. I'm pleased to say he is now serving in the US Navy and getting ready to begin college.
