State Police in York have released additional information on last night’s homicide and suicide in Washington Township. The couple’s son called in the shooting after going to their home to check on them.
After investigation, police discovered that 84-year old Jeanette Brown was terminally ill with cancer and her condition was rapidly deteriorating. As Jeanette slept, her 85-year old husband Sherman Brown fired one round from a rifle, killing his wife in her sleep.
Sherman then sat next to the bed and shot himself. The couple had been married for 65 years.

I am deeply saddened for this loss. Sherman and Jeanette truly loved each other. I feel horrible that he felt this was the only solution. I know his heart had to be broken to know he was losing the love of his life. He stood by his wife until the very end. My prayers go out to their loving family.

That comment does not make sense…. He obviously knew it was not the only solution….However it is probably the solution she prayed for and the less painful for Her and that makes him even more her hero

I am in tears.. I completely have an understanding as to why this sort of thing happens.. They are not wrong in my book.. GOD comfort both those to arrive at your gate and those left behind.

They stood together for 65 years. When it came down to her last days, he didn't want that to end, so he went with her the rest of the way. It takes alot of love to be able to do what he did. My heart goes out to the family left behind, but they can have peace knowing that their loved ones are together always and at peace.
