High pressure will slip just to our north through the overnight period, making for a frigid and calm overnight period.  The winds will relax early during the evening, with temperatures quickly dropping.  Lows will bottom out in the teens.

SUNDAY

The day begins cold with plenty of sunshine on Sunday.  High pressure slips off to the east and gives way to our next system, which will increase clouds during the afternoon.  A mild flow will set up throughout the day, and this should warm temperatures into the upper 30s and lower 40s.  Overnight Sunday, temperatures will drop at or just below freezing.  With a warm flow aloft and precipitation arriving from a cold front, a brief and light period of freezing rain is possible, making the roads slick in some spots.  Temperatures quickly warm above freezing.

THROUGH MIDWEEK

Temperatures remain above average through midweek.  A cold front brings rain to the area on Monday, with highs in the middle, even upper 40s in some spots.  We dry out for Tuesday, with some sunshine returning into the picture.  High temperatures remain a bit above average, in the lower to middle 40s.  Wednesday, an area of low pressure could bring a chance for rain and/or snow showers through the overnight period, but there is no reliable model agreement at this point in time on whether the low affects us, or stays out to the east.  Highs will be near the 40 degree mark.

REST OF THE WEEK

The overall pattern remains seasonable and fairly dry through the end of the week.  Valentine’s Day plans will have dry weather, with some sunshine.  Friday clouds increase ahead of our next weather maker, slated to move through the area during the overnight period.  Saturday will be a bit cooler.  Temperatures range from the lower 40s Thursday and Friday and drop into the middle to upper 30s Saturday.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
