New Oxford firefighters battle blaze in freezing temperatures

New Oxford firefighters braved frigidĀ  temperatures as they battled an early morning fire in Adams County . The call came in around 1:50 a.m. Sunday for a working fire at an apartment building located along 100 block of Lincoln Way East. Everyone was able to make it out safely. Two units were destroyed and a total of 11 people were displaced.

The rear of the building was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene. Icy conditions made the situation even more difficult for firefighters. Temperatures hovered around 15 degrees overnight.

Crews were able to get the fire under control around 4 a.m.

A State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.

Fire officials believe it may have been electrical in nature.

    I called it in at 1:48 to be exact ;). I'm just glad the family got out safely. Me and a friend went to see if everyone got out of the house and they were rounding up their family. A big Hoo-rah to the firefighters for coming out there and putting a stop to that blaze!
