11 people, six adults and five children, are homeless in the aftermath of a two alarm fire in York City. The fire broke out at around 6:45 Tuesday evening in a rowhome in the 600 block of Salem Avenue near West Locust Street. Smoke and flames were pouring from the roof of a home when the first fire crews arrived. The fire spread into a second adjacent home on the block. The fire was contained to 644 and 646 Salem Avenue. A third home at 642, was damaged as fire crews opened an outlet for smoke.
There is no word on the cause of the fire. A Fire Marshal is investigating.
