An area of low pressure to our south will continue to move east, brushing us with some precipitation that is beginning as a mix of rain and snow showers. Through the evening hours, everyone will see a transition completely over to snow, and this will allow for some quick accumulations before the system scoots out of the area. Keep in mind, any snow will accumulate on grassy areas first before the roads. A dusting to 2 inches of snow is possible. The snow shower activity will end around midnight for most, with some clearing around daybreak. Lows will drop into the middle to upper 20s.
REST OF THE WEEK
Valentine’s Day plans look dry on Thursday, with mainly cloudy skies during the afternoon hours. It will be mild with highs in the lower 40s. Friday will also be a mainly dry day, but a weak disturbance dropping down from the northwest could spark a late day shower, which will transition over to a few snow showers late during the overnight period Friday. Highs Friday will reach the middle 40s, even upper 40s in some locations.
COLD BLAST FOR THE WEEKEND
Cold air comes pouring back into Central Pennsylvania, just in time for the weekend. Highs Saturday will fall into the lower to middle 30s, and Sunday’s highs will be in the upper 20s to around 30s degrees. There will be mainly cloudy skies with the chance for some flurries, mainly on Saturday.
WARMING UP AGAIN NEXT WEEK
Sunshine returns next week, with temperatures beginning to warm. Highs reach the middle to upper 30s on Monday. Tuesday, our next storm system heads this way, bringing rain showers alongside it. Highs will be in the lower to middle 40s. Behind the storm, cooler air works back into the area, thus continuing the temperature roller coaster ride. Highs will be in the middle 30s.
