RAIN & SNOW: A low pressure system will grow and slip through the Delmarva into the Atlantic through the day today. As this system passes to our south, some moisture squeezes into the Midstate. This will bring clouds to start and the chance for mainly rain by the afternoon. For the drive home, rain mixes with snow, and by evening we should turn to snow completely. This all happens from roughly 3 P.M. through midnight.
Due to the rain and warm ground, we’re not expecting much to accumulate snow wise. Spots along and south of the turnpike will see an inch or two. Areas to the north will be lucky to see an inch at best. Highs today hit the low 40s. Tonight, after the snow tapers we hold onto the clouds and lows drop to the upper 20s.
LATE WEEK: The rest of the week looks mild and relatively calm. Valentine’s Day will be dry with sunshine increasing through the afternoon. Highs hit the low to mid 40s. Friday, we’ll see more clouds as a clipper moves across New England. This may have enough energy to spark a few rain showers early or snow showers late. Nothing widespread. Highs will be in the middle 40s.
WEEKEND CHILL: A large pocket of cold air dips south into the Northeast. This will chill us by dropping temps into the 30s for highs all weekend. Expect more clouds Saturday than Sunday. As far as the big question of a weekend storm system, all of the major models have finally backed off a storm for the Northeast. However, we’re still watching closely. Small changes could bring this system back into the picture. Stay tuned.
NEXT WEEK: We start to warm again by Monday with highs into the 40s on Tuesday. Another large system is pegged for Tuesday. Right now it looks like mainly rain ending as some snow late. We’ll monitor its development as it gets closer.
