Banana Joe, the winner of the Westminster Dog Show, lives with his handler Ernesto Lara in Lancaster County. The five year old Affenspinscher took the Best in Show Tuesday night. After his big win, Banana Joe will be retiring and heading back to the Netherlands, where he was bred and born.
Lara appeared on ‘Fox and Friends’ Wednesday morning.
“It’s hard to describe, really…. It’s a coveted prize and then when it actually happens, it’s unbelievable,” he says. “He’s an Affenpinscher. He’s a German breed that was just, you know, basically…(likes)…to run around the kitchen and the barns, but, they possess, um, specific intelligence about them. They’re almost human somehow.”
Banana Joe beat out the crowd favorite, an English sheepdog, who was crowned the runner-up.
