VALENTINE’S DAY +1: I hope you and your Valentine have a great day ahead, because it looks like Mother Nature will be on our side today. After a foggy start, a good amount of sunshine will mix through during the morning and midday. By afternoon a few clouds stroll in and by evening we’re becoming mostly cloudy. Highs today hit the low to mid 40s! With the exception of our far northwestern counties, we’re dry through the evening. Some spots to the northwest may see a brief raindrop or snowflake later, as a clipper slips by to our north. Evening temps will be near 40°.
Friday will feature mainly cloudy skies through the day with intervals of sunshine. Expect a warm day though as temperatures soar into the upper 40s to near 50° by afternoon. Another weak system looks to develop as the jet stream and colder air dig southward toward PA. This could bring some rain to snow showers after dark and into the overnight hours Friday night. With warm ground, and the brief period of precip, for now it looks minimal in the snow accumulation department. We’ll watch it closely.
WEEKEND: An intrusion of arctic air is here for the weekend. Saturday, northwesterly flow keeps us cloudy and cold with occasional flakes flying from time to time. We’re in the low to mid 30s. The coldest of the air settles in for Sunday with highs in the upper 20s to 30°. We’ll see a bit of sun, but clouds will be plentiful. It’ll be breezy too, adding to the chill.
WEEK AHEAD: The pocket of cold air is shoved north by a ridge of warmer air to our south for Monday. Sunshine returns but only for a day. Highs are in the upper 30s. By Tuesday, a storm system develops between the ridge and trough to our west. This will quickly strengthen as it moves into the Northeast. Expect a rainy and mild Tuesday. We’re back to chillier air for midweek with clearing.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Do something sweet for someone and enjoy the day!
