Police investigate shooting near nightclub in Lancaster City

One person was injured during a shooting near a nightclub in Lancaster City early Sunday morning. A 23-year-old man from Leola was shot in the lower back behind the Bird’s Nest along the first block of South Prince Street, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are non-life threatening. Police say the man refused to cooperate with investigators.

Officers detained several people at the scene for questioning. Everyone was released–except for a Dana L. Johnson Jr., 21, of Lancaster.

Police noticed a bag containing 14 baggies of cocaine hanging out of his pants pocket. Johnson is charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine. He was arraigned and taken to Lancaster County Prison.

The shooting investigation is ongoing.
