Settlement Reached

A financial settlement has been reached between the Harrisburg School District and former Superintendent Gerald Kohn.  At Tuesday night’s school board meeting the board accepted the terms of a $2.3 million settlement of a suit filed by Kohn and two of his former assistants.  In 2010,  the three filed the suit saying they were wrongfully terminated.  In the past Kohn had said his firing was the result of a political vendetta.  In fact one of Mayor Linda Thompson’s campaign promises was to fire Doctor Kohn.  The mayor blamed Kohn and former Mayor Stephen Reed for not meeting education standards and leaving the district in the red.
