Three states, including Pennsylvania, are suing Anheuser-Busch for allegedly watering down its beer. New Jersey and California have also filed lawsuits. They claim the company is listing a higher alcohol content than the beer actually contains. It includes Budweiser, Michelob and other brands. Former employees say Anheuser-Busch adds water just before bottling which cuts the alcohol content by as much as 8%.
The company says it’s not true. None of the plaintiffs did independent testing.
