During a Mass for the Holy Father this morning at Saint Catherine Laboure Parish, scrolls signed by parishioners over the weekend were blessed and then sent to the Vatican for the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. The scrolls were available in the church’s narthex for well-wishers to sign and offer support to the retiring pontiff.
Priests in the Harrisburg Diocese have been including special prayers for the Pope and his successor since he announced his resignation. Pope Benedict is the first pope to resign in over 600 years. In his public farewell speech on Wednesday, Benedict hinted at Vatican infighting.
Benedict, 85, will leave for the papal retreat near Rome, later today.
