Police investigating a series of loud bangs that sounded like explosions or gunfire instead found several homemade explosives in the form of ‘bottle bombs.’ Five of the devices were found around 5:30am in the 200 block of North Union Street. Four of the devices had been exploded. The fifth was handled by the Pennsylvania State Police Hazardous Devices Unit.
Then around 10am, three more bottle bombs were found about four blocks away in the 200 block of East Roosevelt. Two of the devices had been exploded. The third was vented and inactive.
No injuries were reported and no property damage has been determined. The incidents are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Middletown Borough Police by calling 717-902-0627.
Bottle bombs are typically homemade devices using plastic soda bottles and commonly available household materials. Despite their simple nature, these devices can be dangerous. Anyone discovering such devices should keep away from them and contact police.
Middletown Police were assisted by officers from Lower Swatara Township Police Department and Penn State – Harrisburg Campus Police.

Middletown is a neighborhood in Harrisburg. It's sort of like saying you are from Philly when you really aren't actually in that city.

Unfortunately, this isn't just a Middletown problem. And when parents don't know what their children are doing, where they are, or who they're with and haven't taught them right from wrong, then it gets even worse. Undisciplined, disrespectful, destructive brats with no fear of consequences are everywhere.
