CLOUDS FINALLY BREAK APART
The stubborn clouds of the last several days finally begin to give way, as a weak area of high pressure slowly builds in. Breaks in the clouds allow temperatures to dip into the middle 20s across Central Pennsylvania tonight. Sunshine is back briefly for Monday, with some clouds still hanging around too. The breezy northwest winds persist, and high temperatures reach the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.
STILL WATCHING MIDWEEK
Tuesday clouds fill in once more across the area, ahead of the potential storm we’ve been talking about now for a few days. Overall, it will be a quiet day with highs in the lower 40s. A few snow showers could sneak into the western parts of the area late in the day. Then overnight Tuesday through Wednesday, all eyes are on the storm system that will pass to our south. There is still a good amount of uncertainty at this point in time, but some details are becoming clearer as well. Exact storm track and intensity of snowfall in Central Pennsylvania continue to have question marks around them. It is too early to make any responsible calls on potential snowfall amounts, if any. What does appear to be likely at this point in time, based on model trending, is two things. First, regardless of exact snowfall amount, if any, the higher end totals will be closer the Mason-Dixon Line and south. Second, regardless of whether or not this storm brings snowfall to Central Pennsylvania, it will very likely bring accumulating snow to the Baltimore and D.C. areas, so commuters will still need to closely watch this storm’s development. Again, there’s still plenty of uncertainty, so continue to check back as better model data becomes available.
QUIET AND MILD END
A few flurries could linger into Thursday, otherwise sunshine returns, with highs in the lower 40s. A ridge of high pressure builds into the area for the end of the week, keeping the sunshine across Central Pennsylvania into the weekend. Highs reach the middle to upper 40s, with some 50 degree readings possible as well Saturday into Sunday.
Have a great week!
