A woman is facing charges after backing her vehicle into a cop car during a police chase in Lancaster County on Feb. 13. Karon Hoover, 46, is charged with Fleeing and Eluding, DUI, Accident involving damage to attended property, driving on a suspended license and various summary traffic violations.
Police attempted to pull Hoover over while she was speeding along the 1800 block of Columbia Avenue in her black Ford Mustang. Instead of stopping, Hoover fled through several stop signs into Lancaster City.
At one point during the chase Hoover drove the wrong way down a one-way street. It was at this point–she put the car in reverse and backed into a pursuing officers police cruiser. That didn’t deter Hoover, she kept on driving until the chase ended when she pulled into the back yard of a home along the 700 block of Lafayette Street.
Hoover was taken into custody at the scene. She was released after she refused chemical testing.
On Friday, March 1st Hoover was arrested at her home on a warrant for the charges from the incident. She was arraigned and taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $25,o00 bail.
The police cruiser sustained minor damage in the crash.
