People not amused by ‘Gallon Smashing’ prank

The newest viral video craze called ‘Gallon Smashing‘ isn’t getting any laughs from people in York County.  ‘Gallon Smashing‘ is the act in which pranksters pretend to trip and fall in a grocery store while carrying milk or juice.  The falls are completely fake and pranksters trick bystanders into thinking they are actually hurt. In the meantime they end up damaging property and often getting debris all over innocent shoppers.

In Franklin County: on February 28th three teenage boys were cited after filming their version at the Food Lion along the 800 block of Lincoln Way West  in Hamilton Township. 18-year old Benjamin Roschy, of Chambersburg and two juvenile boys were each cited after Roschy intentionally broke two 1-gallon jugs of chocolate milk in the aisle of the grocery store.

York County District Attorney Tom Kearney says the prank is stupid and teens need to focus their energy on something more positive. “There’s so many good things that young people can be doing. To do something stupid like this it just doesn’t make any sense.” He says pranksters in York County will be prosecuted. “It’s not only irresponsible it’s a crime. If you’re going to take somebody’s property that’s offered for sale and destroy it or convert it to your own use, that’s theft. In addition to that it’s criminal mischief. There’s so many good things that young people can be doing. If you’re going to go and commit a crime, you’re going to be punished for it.”

Shoppers at Giant weren’t amused either. “I’d say the kid’s kind of a jerk,” said Michael Comiskey. “I wouldn’t be too happy if I got splattered with that stuff. The way he’s fake falling and throwing stuff he could hurt somebody. But you know somebody else has got to clean up the mess too. I’m all for humor and I can find the humor in things but that’s a little too much for me. The way he’s acting the way he’s throwing things around it could damage other things and makes a mess for everybody else.”

“Somebody had to clean that up, you know. I hope they made them clean it up,” said Mary Boser.

When these teens get older, say about 28 or 29, they can place bottle bombs in Middletown for kicks.

Granted, it's really stupid but isn't that what being a kid is about? Make 'em clean it up and pay for it. No real harm done.
And really, how does one extrapolate splashing some milk as a prank to "bottle bombs in Middletown"?
Bet you're the same guy that yells at kids to stay off your lawn.

Of all the things kids could that are worse than this?? Granted, yes, it makes a mess that someone has to clean up, but a view this as just harmless fun. I am a 46 year old parent of 3, actually, I found this pretty funny. Get over it…..

I work in a grocery store and I have better things to do than to clean up some bored kids mess. How about I go to your house and smash gallons of milk in your kitchen? It's just a prank, no harm done. Clean it up yourself. Anyone who supports this is an idiot.

Make the kids pay for damaged goods and make them clean up the mess.

These kids obviously have too much idle time. Read a book. Volunteer. Join a sports team. Get a job. Grow up and become a productive citizen.

Do these "parents" that think this is funny realize, that by federal law, any product that the milk splashes on MUST be removed from the shelves and discarded to prevent some person with a dairy allergy from possibly coming in contact with it.
I think you idiots wouldn't think it was funny if you were hit with a bill for thousands of dollars of inventory that must be replaced. Now THAT would be funny !
Why don't you spend time with your kids and maybe we won't see their picture plastered on the internet for some "prank", of course you would think a felony is harmless too. I feel sorry for your children.
