Winter Storm Warning for York and Lancaster counties

WINTERSNOWSTORM248238400-10141807Winter Storm Warning in effect from 2am Wednesday to 2am EST Thursday.

The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow…which is in effect from 2 am Wednesday to 2 am EST thursday. the winter storm watch is no longer in effect.

* locations… York and Lancaster counties.

* hazard types…heavy snow.

* accumulations…5 to 8 inches of snow.

* timing…snow will begin before daybreak on wednesday and last
through late wednesday afternoon.

* impacts…dangerous travel conditions due to snow covered roads. substantial reductions in visibility. heavy wet snow and gusty winds could result in power outages.

* winds…northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* temperatures…in the lower and mid 30s.

* visibilities…less than a quarter of a mile at times.

precautionary/preparedness actions…

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means a significant amount of snow is forecast that will make travel dangerous. if you must travel…keep an extra flashlight…food…blanket and a cellular phone in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

    Cause god knows, in this day and age you may be more than 50 feet from a Sheetz or Rutters or Turkey Hill.

    I heard the storm was sequestered until accurate measurements from all computer models are agreed upon.
