Come April 25, the TSA is easing restrictions on a few items travelers can bring in their carry-on luggage. The most controversial on the list are small pocket knives.

The blade must be non-locking and smaller than 2.36 inches in length.

It also can’t be more than an inch at its widest part.

But small or not, the idea didn’t sit well with travelers at Harrisburg International Airport.

“I don’t think any weapon, sharp object, should be allowed,” said Jeff Lehman of Mount Joy, Lancaster County.

“I wouldn’t feel like safe, knowing that maybe someone has that,” said Maria Hergenreder of Argentina.

Some sports equipment will also be allowed as carry-ons.

They include small and novelty toy bats, ski poles, hockey and lacrosse sticks.

Pool cues and golf clubs (limited to two) will also be allowed.

Tim Edwards, executive director at Harrisburg International Airport, said the easing of these previously restricted items is all a part of a recent security review by the TSA.

“They’ve decided to focus on higher priority threats to the aviation system, primarily explosives that may be carried on an aircraft,” he said.

Travelers FOX 43 spoke to said they’re used to the added security measures post-9/11 and wouldn’t mind things staying the same.

“In a way, it makes you feel safe because everyone is going through that process,” said Hergenreder.

“I think that they’re doing a pretty good job,” Lehman said.

Razor blades and box cutters, which were used in the 9/11 attacks, will still be prohibited.
