Harrisburg School District Chief Recovery Officer Gene G. Veno has requested an extension for the submission of a recovery plan for the school district, which was declared in moderate financial distress by Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Ronald J. Tomalis on Dec. 12, 2012.
In a letter sent to the state Education Secretary, Veno has asked for an additional 45 days – to Apr. 26 – to complete his blueprint for the financial and academic recovery of the Harrisburg School District in order to develop a more detailed and effective plan.
Veno was appointed by the state Education Secretary on Dec. 12 and tasked with creating a recovery plan in 90 days and overseeing the implementation of the plan. Please visit the Chief Recovery Officer website at www.HSDRecoveryPlan.org for further updates.
