Police: Don’t Fall For Kidnapping Scam

phone-scam

York City Police have received two separate reports in the past two days where people received phone calls claiming that a relative had been kidnapped. The callers demanded money be sent via Western Union to a location in Puerto Rico. In both instances it was determined this was a hoax to scam money. Police  say citizens need to be aware of this and any other similar scams to send money.

Trust your instincts, if it sounds suspicious, call your local police department.

If it sounds suspicious, report the phone number to http://www.callercenter.com and the FTC in an attempt to shut the scam down.
