Many of us had them as a child, but no matter how many times they beg you, do not get your young child a pet turtle, lizard or frog. That’s the message from the Centers For Disease Control which says small reptiles and amphibians can make people very sick. They found 345 cases of Salmonella poisoning between 2008 and 2011, mostly in kids under the age of ten. The health agency believes they got sick from handling tainted acquarium water.
