Harrisburg – Two homicides in less than a week and now Harrisburg Police believe they have solved them both. Police arrested two men, one in connection with a shooting last Monday and another on Saturday.
Police in Harrisburg were busy over the past week investigating two homicides and another separate shooting. Over the past 24 hours, police arrested two suspects they believe are responsible for a homicide last Monday night and one on Saturday night. However, a new case popped up last night as after a shooting only three blocks away from Saturday’s homicide, along Vernon Street.
Twenty-year-old Robert Burris was gunned down on Saturday night in the 200 block of South 14th Street. Police got the call just after 6:30 p.m. for a man shot in the head. Burris was taken to Harrisburg Hospital where he died from his injuries. Police were on the lookout for the suspects. On Sunday, one turned himself into the police. He was arraigned and is now being held at Dauphin County Prison.
Later on Sunday, police arrested a suspect they believe is responsible for a homicide last Monday. Police investigated the shooting death of 20-year-old Courtney Jackson. He was found shot to death in the 1800 block of Forster Street. At the time, police did not find much evidence around the body, leaving a lot of questions surrounding the death investigation.
Last night, police arrested a man in connection with Jackson’s homicide. Right now, he is being held at the Harrisburg Police Department. He is awaiting arraignment which is expected to happen some time later today.
At this point, Harrisburg Police are not releasing the names or pictures of the two suspects in police custody.
On top of the two homicide investigations, police are now looking for the person responsible for a shooting last night at 14th and Vernon Streets. A man was shot in the neck. He was taken to the hospital to be treated but is expected to survive. Police are searching for who may have pulled the trigger in that case.
