On the first day of competition for “AAA” in the PIAA Championships, local girls swimmers dominate and capture five gold medals.   Hershey’s girls get the fun started with a state record performance in the 200 yard medley relay.   The combination of Ari Waitkavicz, Carly Deliberty, Gabi Broschard and Collette Robinson set a new standard with a time of 1:44.22 seconds.

Warwick’s Emily Cameron touches the wall first for the 200 yard individual medley title.  She wins with a time of 2:00.62.

Hershey’s Madelyn Veith takes the 50 yard freestyle sprint in 23.15 seconds.

Northeastern’s Niki Price is the champion for the 100 yard girls butterfly in 54.11 seconds.

The Hershey girls add another gold medal and state record in the 200 yard freestyle relay.   Collette Robinson, Meaghan Raab, Vivi Tafuto and Madelyn Veith finish in 1:33.48 seconds.

In the “AAA” boys portion of the meet at night, Hershey once again makes an impact.   The Trojans relay team captures the 200 Yard Freestyle title.    Hershey’s Vinny Tafuto is the gold medalist in the 50 Yard Freestyle.

The PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships conclude on Saturday at Bucknell University.
