The sixth annual Vinny’s Kids 5K race took off Sunday from City Island.

Walkers and runners took part to raise money for Vinny’s Kids, a charity started in 2004 to provide entertainment for sick children during their hospital stays.

“The thing that’s very refreshing, pretty inspiring is the fact that this is for children and the fact that we have so many youth volunteers is really cool,” said Vinny Cherry, who founded the charity.
