10 Year Anniversary of Iraq War

This week marks a decade since President Bush announced a US led invasion in Iraq. The United States unleashed air strikes with the goal of ridding the country of weapons of mass destruction and replace the regime of Saddam Hussein with a peaceful pro-western democracy. No weapons were ever found. Traffic in Baghdad is still controlled by heavily armed police and a night curfew remains in effect. The invasion left many Iraqis physically and mentally scarred. The conflict between the US and Iraq has left over forty-four-hundred Americans dead and thirty-two-thousand with injuries. The decade-long war cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.
