
Some lawmakers in Harrisburg are pushing to change the name of the Department of Public Welfare. A legislative committee voted Wednesday to approve a bill changing the name to the Department of Human Services. The reason: the negative connotation sometimes associated with the word welfare. The bill now goes to the full House for consideration.

I think if there is 8 million dollars to spend on this then why are there so many people without health insurance? Some people make to much for free or reduced health insurance.

WOW, I guess everything is fixed in PA, adequate law enforcement on the streets, top notch education, political corruption eliminated, politician’s paid a fair but not exorbitant wage packaged, taxes are lowest in the nation. Life must be that good – why else would our elected officials WASTE time and millions of dollars on changing the name of a department of government.

I think the comments speak loud and clear!! If name changes have negative connotations, what connotations does an $8mill name change spend have?
