rules are rules. if she would have abided by the rule she wouldnt have known her son called. No phone or text while driving means just that. Im a vet and understand the need to talk but also understand the amount of people killed because of people and their cell phones

How petty of any one to try and penalise a mother from taking a call from her son. Bus or no bus.

Why couldn't permission have been discussed prior to the incident! If she knew as she claims that calls can only be every few months?

We have to use radios to contact each other on our buses. I feel a brief cell phone call isn't any different. However if you do this all the time. Then yes, I see it could be a hazard!. Texting and driving is a whole other problem. If she would of been texting then fire her!

Having a son in the service who has been deployed to Afganistan twice and once to Iraq I know the value of that phone call. That Marine is in "Harms Way" for you! You never know if might be the last call. So back off. Also I guess it would have been ok to take the call if it had been a bus co big shot. But please pull over next time.

She needs a translator, how did she get a license if she can't speak english, can she read it? Rules, are rules, they are there to protect students, and other drivers.

The moment that woman answered the phone, she was no longer driving that bus, she was mentally with her son…

You have no buisness endangering the passengers especially if they are children. PULL OVER!

Good on the company for enforcing the rules. Shame on anyone sticking up for her.

If you actually read the article, there were NO passengers on the bus! I bet you never experienced war first hand. I have and you don't know if that phone call is the last time you will speak to your mom or dad. Shame on you for no supporting our troops. They are fighting for your freedom but I guess you really don't care about that.

If there were no students on the bus she could have simply stepped off the bus to take the call. I understand her need to talk to her son but also understand the concern of the parents and officials of the school children who could have been on the bus at the time. Those children's safety needs to come first while she is behind the wheel of the bus. I believe there are cameras on the buses to monitor every ones behavior while on them so simply getting off the bus would have kept this from being an issue maybe.
