Spring on the calendar, not the thermometer

HAPPY SPRING: Today is the spring equinox!  At 7:02 A.M. EDT, the sun’s most direct rays will sit over the equator.  From this point onward, the earth’s tilt in orbit around the sun will favor the northern hemisphere until the autumnal equinox on September 22nd.  Here comes warmer weather……well not quite yet!

SPRING TIME CHILL:  Mother Nature doesn’t always agree with the science and calendars us human folk conjure up.  We’re sitting underneath a lobe of colder air aloft which is part of a slow moving upper low.  This means we’re generally cold and cloudy with the chance for a few snow showers in the forecast to close out the week!

Highs_Tomorrow

Today begins with sunshine and chilly air.  We’ll be generally breezy with clouds thickening through the afternoon.  Highs today will reach the low and middle 40s.  By late afternoon we could see some widely scattered snow showers.  The snow showers remain possible overnight and through Thursday as well.  We’ll be in the middle 20s tonight.  Thursday will be downright chilly.  Mostly cloudy skies and a breeze will work with the coldest pocket of air as temps only get into the upper 30s at best.  C’mon spring!

The clouds linger with some breaks later on Friday.  We’ll see temps back into the low and middle 40s.  Some improvement.

WEEKEND:  Saturday looks great!  We’re a bit cool and stuck in the middle to upper 40s, but it’s sunny again!  Buy Sunday, we’ll see some clouds rolling in through the day as a complex system approaches.,  For now, the daylight hours are looking dry.

SPRING TIME WINTER WEATHER:  Here we go….yet again.  The winter that wasn’t may turn into the winter that won’t let go.  The models are spitting out some foggy details on our next complex system to move through.  Right now, it looks as if the system will arrive later on Sunday and last into Monday with another pesky upper low lingering into early next week.  So, we will likely see another messy rain/snow mix with the potential for some accumulations.  Timing, strength, positioning are still up in the air, but be ready for another messy Monday.

Enjoy your wonderful Wednesday!
