Two people were displaced after a basement fire caused heavy smoke damage inside a York County home on Saturday morning. Firefighters responded just after 8 a.m. to the 2400 block of Eastwood Drive in Springettsbury Township. Much of the damage was contained to the basement. Fire officials say the home is inhabitable after sustaining heavy smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

I believe the word you want is "uninhabitable" if the residents were displaced.
