A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says many mothers are feeding babies solid foods earlier than they should.  The recommended age is 6 months, but doctors say as many as 40% of new parents start solid foods before 4 months.  About 10 percent of parents start feeding their child solid food in the first four weeks of life.  The most common reasons include their baby seemed hungry and they thought the infant was old enough.

Babies may have trouble swallowing solid food before 6 months and researchers say it could increase the risk of some chronic diseases.
