Man shoots self during attempted robbery in Harrisburg

A 27-year old man was injured early Wednesday morning in Harrisburg after accidentally shooting himself during a robbery attempt. The man had been visiting a friend in the area of the 900 block of North 3rd Street when he was approached by a robber, demanding the victim hand over his valuables.

The victim attempted to pull a gun out of the waistband of his pants when it accidentally went off, hitting him in the groin. He was rushed to Hershey Medical Center for emergency surgery. Police found drug paraphernalia in the victim’s clothing.
