Clive Davis, the man behind artists like Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen and Janis Joplin, has a new book out.
His autobiography, “The Soundtrack of my Life”, chronicles his personal life and his last 50 years as a hit maker.
Davis wasn’t always on that track; he started out in the music industry as Columbia records’ in-house lawyer’ and realized he had a natural ear for music.
Davis said, “Well, my first signing really showed, you hear about the tingle that goes up your spine. I saw the first artist, Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company at the Monterey Pop Festival. It changed my life.”
Davis is currently in charge of Sony Music Entertainment, which is the umbrella over his own label, J Records.
