Fair Trade Rug Sale

A Cumberland County store is looking out for Pakistani Artisans and helping them earn a fair wage.  Ten Thousand Villages in Mechanicsburg is a fair trade retailer.  The store is holding their second annual rug sale with more than 300 items on display.  Families in Pakistani Villages make the rugs by hand.  The families set the retail prices and are paid 45% to 60% of the sale price.  Typically, they get paid only 15%.  The sale runs through Saturday and prices range from $350 to $7,000.
