The victim of an assault Saturday night in Harrisburg is still unconscious, according to police. Police received the call at 9:25pm Saturday for a man lying unconscious on the 100 block of Locust Street. A night shift patrol officers who was on his way to work  heard the radio call and responded.  The officer is a trained emergency medical technician and  was just two blocks away, when the call went out.  He attended to the unresponsive victim.  The officer spoke to a woman who said that she saw what happened. The witness said  a man in a red car stopped, got out of the car, and punched the victim in the face.  The victim fell and the assailant drove off.  The woman refused to wait for responding officers, citing that she didn’t want to get involved.  She left.  She is encouraged to contact any Harrisburg City police officer.

The victim was taken to the Harrisburg Hospital and was admitted.  He remains in the intensive care unit and is still unconscious as of Monday afternoon. The victim is described as a 59 year old black male, of no fixed address.
